Metal Mining & Allied Workers Union of South Africa (MMAWUSA) 15 August 2025

The Metal Mining & Allied Workers Union of South Africa (MMAWUSA) will convene its inaugural National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting from 16–17 August 2025.

MMAWUSA is founded on the principles of democracy, accountability, and transparent feedback to its members. This first NEC meeting marks a historic milestone for our organisation and its mission to represent workers in the metal and mining industries.

The purpose of the meeting is to report back to the true owners of the union – the shop stewards – on:

1.⁠ ⁠The progress made towards the official registration of the union.

2.⁠ ⁠Ongoing recruitment drives.

3.⁠ ⁠Steps taken to build a strong, viable, and militant organisation that will defend workers’ rights and improve conditions in the sector.

Through this NEC meeting, MMAWUSA reaffirms its commitment to building a democratic and worker-led union that listens to its members, involves them in key decisions, and fights tirelessly for their rights in the workplace and beyond.
